A modernist hideaway in a leafy London enclave

This Richmond masterpiece offers an oasis of calm, says Savills agent Daniel Hutchins

Sir Terry Farrell designed Drum House, in Richmond, in 2004. He was influenced by traditional courtyard properties and wanted to recreate that secretive, introverted environment with this home. The property makes a strong impression on everyone. Visitors always remark on the easy flow from room to room, and from the interior to outside. There’s a double-height gallery that runs the full length of the house – it makes quite an impact when you walk in the door. Yet even with these dramatic and exciting spaces, the property still feels homely.
